About Wadhurst Corner

Wadhurst Corner is an editorial reference on Scandinavian interior design — a record of observations on Nordic materials, furniture, colour, and the domestic traditions that make these interiors work.

Design in Scandinavia exhibition, 1954

What this is

Wadhurst Corner publishes articles on Scandinavian interior design with a focus on practical application in the Polish context. The writing covers materials, furniture selection, colour and light, and the underlying principles that distinguish Nordic interiors from generic European ones.

The site does not sell furniture, materials, or design advice. It does not work with sponsors. External links are included for reference only and do not reflect commercial relationships.

Why Poland

Poland's residential architecture — particularly the apartment stock built since 2000 — shares characteristics with the contexts Scandinavian design principles were developed for: compact floor areas, open-plan layouts, limited daylight in winter months. The transferability of Nordic interior thinking to Polish homes is higher than is often assumed.

Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, and Gdańsk all have active markets for quality furniture, including pieces from Scandinavian manufacturers and local Polish workshops producing comparable work. The articles on this site refer to what is actually available in these markets.
